HERE TO STAY

“And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.”

-Ezra 3v11

Invitations

Meet with the Lead Team

As you heard in the video above, Jake and Micah are going to attempt to meet with every individual, couple, and family within our church community in 2026.

We believe that God is moving us towards something. And rather than having detached, disconnected, sporadic conversation on the journey from here to stay, we want to be intentional about creating regular conversations as a community. Whether it’s with one of us or both of us, we would love to meet with you over a meal, for coffee, around a table–to have a conversation about what it would look like for you to participate in helping The Sanctuary be here to stay.

FAQ

It’s a year-long journey of prayer, fasting, and financial preparation that will allow us to secure a permanent home for The Sanctuary when the time comes. This is about proactively moving towards something, not reactively trying to acquire something.

Our lease at the Indy Art Center ends December 2026, and while renewal of that contract is certainly a possibility, we want to be prepared to take a next step should that door close. We have a strong sense that now is the time to begin laying the foundation for the space God has in store for us!

Not primarily. The primary goal is for everyone in our church to find themselves in the story that God is writing here. That could look like partnering with us in prayer, participating in service, or practicing generosity. Our hope is that as we find ourselves in the story, God will be faithful to do, “abundantly more than we could ever ask for or imagine.” (Ephesians 3v20)

Secondarily, while we have no fixed timeline for moving into a permanent space, our current lease does run through the end of 2026. The hope is to have clarity and a financial foundation by that time to pursue a permanent space with the funds that we’ve raised.

From the beginning, we’ve felt a strong conviction to be a church in the neighborhood for the city. Washington Township is where the vision was birthed and where we feel called to plant deep roots.

Every dollar given to the Here to Stay Fund will go directly into an aggressive investment fund that we have with the Wesleyan Investment Foundation. This “nest egg” will accrue interest over time allowing our money to be stewarded faithfully rather than sat on stagnantly. This fund is separate from our general operating expenses and goes toward preparing for our future home and all of the costs associated with it (consultation, construction, etc.).

For our 2025 Year-End Christmas Offering, there is no specific dollar amount we’re trying to raise. However, as we look ahead to 2026, we’ve canvassed the neighborhood and have found that viable real estate options for a church our size range from $1.2 million dollars to $1.5 million dollars. It is estimated that we would need $405,000 to place a down payment on such a facility. Our goal over the next year is to raise these funds proactively so that if/when the opportunity arises for us to secure a permanent space, The Sanctuary will be positioned to be here to stay.

The ask, here and now, is to consider offering a one-time gift over and above your regular giving- specifically to our “Here to Stay” fund. In 2026, we would invite you to consider increasing your regular giving so that ongoing ministry continues to flourish while we prepare for the future.

Our elder team will provide quarterly updates on total funds raised, how they’re being stewarded, and where we are in the discernment process.

The year ahead (2026) will focus on communal discernment—meet-ups, conversations, and ongoing updates as we move from Here → To → Stay.

2025’s offering seeds the “Here to Stay” fund. 2026’s offering (if God provides direction by then) will likely be a final push to secure or renovate our long-term home.

Pray the Lord’s Prayer at midday, specifically pausing on this line, “your Kingdom come, your will be done.” And join us in fasting from one meal a week to pray for God to provide a permanent space.

Beyond that, you can attend quarterly gatherings with our elders, meet with Micah or Jake, and share what you’re discerning about the future of our church to hello@sanctuaryindy.com

It means there are no insiders or elites—everyone, regardless of income or tenure, plays a vital role in praying, discerning, and contributing.

Absolutely. “Here to Stay” complements our mission; it doesn’t replace it. We’re still a haven for broken people practicing the way of Jesus, participating in community, and permeating the world.

This initiative ensures that the mission has a stable home base—so formation, communion, and mission can flourish for generations to come.
